If you are considering CBD for your daily wellness needs, you most likely have questions about the way CBD interacts with your body. While there is a fair amount of information about all the CBD oil benefits and the endocannabinoid system, there are still some answers that are more difficult to find a straight answer to, especially when it comes to the amount of time CBD stays in our systems.
If you are wondering how long CBD lasts or if CBD leaves traces in our systems, here’s all you need to know.
There are many factors that will determine how long CBD stays in your system, but two of these factors play a more significant role than the rest.
CBD can be manufactured into a myriad of different products like capsules, oils, edibles, and even topicals. Even though all these products are formulated differently, they produce the same benefits thanks to their CBD content. However, due to each product having different delivery methods, they are absorbed by our systems at different rates. For example, CBD Oil is absorbed almost immediately by the capillaries under our tongue and carried into our bloodstream within 10-15 minutes. On the other hand, CBD edibles and capsules can take up to 45 minutes to fully take effect.
Once you have chosen the type of product you prefer for your CBD needs, the next step is deciding the potency, or how much CBD hemp oil is in each product. The general rule of thumb is that more potent products generally stay in your system for longer. Most products, regardless of delivery method, are available in different potencies usually ranging from moderate (~350 mg) to very strong (~3500 mg). Choosing the right dosage depends mainly on your wellness needs, though age, gender, and tolerance should also be taken into consideration.
On average, the effects of CBD oil will be felt for 5-6 hours after they kick in. Users are more likely to feel the full impact of CBD during the first few hours since the amount of CBD in our systems begins to drop gradually after introduction. Most users report they stop feeling the effects of CBD after 7 hours.
As is the case with most medications, small traces of CBD can remain in your body even after consumption. While there is no standard formula to determine how many days CBD stays in your system, most studies point to an average of 120 hours or 5 days. Small doses may take as little as 2 days to exit our bodies, while higher doses may stay in our bodies for up to 10 days. As mentioned before, it all depends on a number of factors that vary per individual case.
Regardless of the delivery method or dosage, CBD in general, poses no risk of overdosing. Our products are formulated to remove any residual THC, therefore there is no possibility of a psychoactive component to contend with. Additionally, CBD oil produces no known harmful side effects, however, if you are taking any prescription medications, it is best to speak directly to your doctor or pharmacist to discover if any new information regarding side effects have become known.
Because CBD is a safe natural product and legal nationwide, drug tests do not usually check for CBD. That’s why millions currently use a Broad Spectrum CBD, such as our products, for their everyday needs without having to worry about failing any drug tests at work or school. However, if you are in a position that requires drug testing, you should be very careful when selecting any CBD products as many do contain trace amounts of THC. If a product is labeled as having any "active cannabindoids", then there is a more than likely expectation that some residual and detectable THC will remain in the product that you are consuming. Here is a link to an informative article on this topic, which was published in the Stars & Stripes, April 2019. This is a huge concern for military, government employees and may also be a concern if you are a teacher, working in the transportation industry (pilots, train, bus or truck drivers, etc) or other industrial careers which require mandatory drug testing. It will be awhile before drug tests reflect the new norm in our society with the aspect of legal CBD. For now, please try to understand the differences between the "type" of CBD products. THEY ARE NOT all the same.
